The Basic Principle of Faith

A man has faith if “having received a Word from God, and overcoming fear, doubt, and unbelief, the person acted on it.” In God’s time, the Word will show its fruit on the person’s life. Hebrews 11:1 says,“Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.

When Noah was told to build the ark, he was told to build it on top of the mountain. Nobody in his right mind would build a boat that big on top of the mountain. Boats were built with proximity and access to the sea. This was why the people were laughing at him. God told him there would be rain. Rain was something that had not happened yet at the time of Noah. Vegetation was watered by mist and dew from the earth (Gen 2:6). Noah believed by faith that God was doing everything that He said. His faith was, God said it, that settled it.

It took me 30 years to understand why a loving God will destroy His creation because of their sins. Their sins have been with them since Adam, why now? If this puzzles you, e-mail us and we’ll tell you the answer.

Faith grasps the promises of God and reckon it to be accomplished. Faith is the key that unlocks the power of God into our life. First, we read that the dominion lost by Adam because of man’s sin is recovered by all powerful Christ through His death and resurrection. Second, we believe. Third, we experience the joy of His salvation. The Bible says that faith is the evidence of things unseen. It is an ability to reach beyond ourselves, to go past the obvious circumstances that surround us. It is a capacity to be convinced of the reality of things that are not yet visible. It enables us to anticipate things that are not yet perceptible to the natural senses. Faith is the outreach of the human heart to God, an outreach based on unwavering confidence in the integrity of God’s Word and in His ability and power to meet every need, to overcome every situation.

We need to know that there is no sin , or habit, or fear, or disease from which He cannot set us free. Second, we need tap to that power by faith and nothing will hinder us from accomplishing God’s promises into our life. “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith” (1John 5:4). How do we get faith? Paul said in Romans 10:17, “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

When we read the Bible, God will be talking to us. Our belief that God talks to us through the Bible, mixed with faith will bring that Word into realization. There are thousands of promises of God in the Bible all applicable to us. Read them, believe them, they are yours by faith.

The process of faith then is Knowing, knowing that God will fulfill His promises, Hearing, hearing personal instruction from God, Doing or acting on the Word, and finally Seeing the Word’s accomplishment into our lives and others.
